Here is Jay, Michael, and Dad at Care Meridian in their T.V. lounge room! Pretty nice! Michael had a quick but good visit with Jay.

Care Meridian

Jay and I @ Care Meridian! This was tonight and he was getting ready for bed, so he looks a little sleepy. He had a low-key weekend and I think he missed the hustle and bustle of all of his therapy and visitors. My mom is coming tomorrow morning and will be here all week. I know Jay will enjoy her company.
Isn't this kitchen nice? It is part of Care Meridian and when Jay gets to eat he can come here and enjoy a nice meal. I know he wants to eat so bad and we are really trying to help him use his mouth more and even talk.
Here is Ellie with Jay. She is so sweet with him. It took her a few days to warm up to the idea but she is a great motivator and loves talking to him. He enjoys her company and stares at her wherever she goes. Jay was giving me a funny look in this pic, but at least he's lookin'!

P.T. with me

I went to see Jason today by myself, which was so nice! He enjoys watching the kids but I really wanted to work with him without any distractions. I did some therapy with him and he did great! He lifted his right leg whenever I asked him to. His left leg is still struggling, but I moved it for him just to try and get his range of motion back. I really think he is trying hard. He really listens to my commands and wants his body to move the way I want it too. He is a good patient and I am still waiting for him to smile or say something to me.

Wide Awake!

I got to visit with Jay this evening and he was awake the whole time I was there. He was staring at me and tracking me wherever I went. It was great because it felt like I was having a conversation with his eyes. I got to see my brother Michael this evening. We had a BBQ at our house and it was so much fun. I can't wait till Jay can be there too. I am anxious to see what Jay's first word will be...any guesses???!! He is getting close to speaking and he will be working with the speech therapist, so this will be interesting. Jason seems to be on the mend with his blatter infection and has had no fever or pain today.

1st infection....

Well yesterday was such a great transition day for Jason, and then this morning he threw up for the first time, and he wouldn't go pee! So, the nurse decided to change his catheter and whalaa, he was in full stream. He got a temperature and was starting to sweat but after he was finally able to go the bathroom, he was relieved and resting. His labs returned and he does have a blatter infection...which is normal! So...he will be treated for that and hopefully be on the mend for the weekend. Pray everyone gets a good nights sleep. To be continued...

Jay Made it!

I just thought I would write a quick entry and let you know that Jason made it to "Care Meridian" yesterday (Thursday). He was picked up at 6:30 a.m. in San Leandro via ambulence and had an uneventful ride. They got him set up in his room and he looks great! The twins and I arrived about noon. This was the first time Jason has seen the twins in over 3 months! He just stared and tracked them very well. I had a great time with Jason. He is so alert and knows exactly what you are saying. He is trying to talk which will be interesting...not only do I know the occupational therapist who is my neighbor down the street, the neurologist is one of Jacob's doctor's for work! So, we feel like he is in good hands! This will be an interesting next couple months for Jason. Michael flies in today!!! I will post pictures of Jay in his new room soon. The place is beautiful and the people are great. As great as it is, we want Jason to keep progressing and get out of there so he can go to an acute rehab center. It will happen and I think sooner than later.

Jay is on the move...

Jason is scheduled to leave Kindred Hospital in San Leandro on Thursday. He was evaluated last week from "Care Meridian" and passed! I actually got to take a tour of the "home" today. It is so beautiful and tranquil. I think he will like the change of scenery. I am especially excited to have him 15 minutes away! It is a great set up at Care Meridian, so if you ever want to come visit him, you are more than welcome. It will be bitter-sweet for my mom as she says goodbye to those nurses and staff that have taken Jay under their wing for the past 3 months. They are excited to see him go and move on to the next step! If everything goes as planned he will be in fresno thursday.
Michael (Jason's brother) is coming Friday! It will be nice to have us all together once again. Stay tuned for pics of Jay's new home! He is going to love it!!

Outside!!

Jay got wheeled outside yesterday! Oh how we all wish we could have been there to see the look on his face! He did physical therapy in the PT room downstairs and then they took him outside for some fresh air. I know I would love that, and I hope Jay did. My mom is headed to the hospital today, Jason is getting evaluated tomorrow from "Care Meridian". The rehab center is here in fresno! If Jason meets the requirements he could be here soon! I am so excited and I think he is ready for the next step! He has also been maintaining his temp for 3 days now! Yeah, that is huge! He has constantly been getting a temperature which reaches about 101 and then is treated with IB profin and vicatin. No fever, No meds! Yeah Jay!

A great Weekend!

This picture pretty much explains it...Jay and Dad resting peacefully, sleeping, what they do best! This is Colleen who has been treating Jay with her B.E.S.T treatement along with her reflexology and massage therapy. She has a great knowledge of the human body and the power of healing through touch.
Here is Jason and two of his buddies, Brendan and Daniel. They brought old pictures and told old stories dating back to elementary school. Thanks guys for coming to see Jay, it means a lot to him!
Jim and Sandy Scott, our old neighbors!!! They live in Sacramento now, and came down to see Jay and my parents. Jim and Sandy have known Jay forever and I hope it sparked some good memories for Jay.
Here is Jay. His look says it all. Content, a little confused, and sad. He knows he has a long road ahead of him. I am speaking for Jay, but I think he knows something terrible has happened, he is still alive, his friends and family care about him, and now he needs to pull through it. It is amazing how we all need help through our trials big and small. Everyone's hands and hearts are touching Jay. Thank you.

Grandma's Visit

Grandma Diane was able to visit this week with Jason for 3 days! It looks like he is really listening to her, doesn't it?! Jason had a good week. He is still having some "storming" issues, which is when he moves unvoluntarily his right side of his body. He has yet to move the left side on his own, so we are trying to work with him on that. Lately, he hasn't needed "extra" meds as much...which is probably why Jason is more alert and awake. He is responding to commands such as: "Blink your eyes twice, lift your leg, etc. I just talked with my dad and he said a tear came out of his left eye. He was not sure what it was from, but it could be Jason starting to show some emotion. We love him and want him to get better! Thanks Grandma for coming, I know he can't wait to sit and chat with Grandpa. Love to everyone, April

Week 10

Jacob and I got to visit Jay yesterday (Sunday)! Colleen Huston, a family friend, came up as well to do some work on Jay. She does reflexology. I can't tell you all the details because I am still learning her practice myself, but I must say she is a miracle worker! She is very good at what she does, and we all helped Jay strectch his fingers, wrists, and feet out to help relax him. She is very gentle with him, and very positive. Her positive energy is awesome, and I know Jason felt it. He did very well yesterday with his temperature maintaining around 99.6. He is awake more often and responding better. His storming is less often, but it is still happening. He lifts his right leg and arm, so now we are trying to get him to lift and look more with his left side. The neurologist had a good report for Jay! That was probably the most exciting part of yesterday for me. She finally saw progress!

Jason's friends Josh and Daniel came by. They were great, talking to Jay, telling him stories and even brought their high school football picture. Jason's friend Whitney also stopped by. He liked following her around the room and we all tried to see what he could do for us as far as tracking. He did quite well, but he is still having trouble turning to the left side. When Jason looks at you, we all feel he recognizes us but can't communicate to us what he knows. I could sense he was a little frustrated and agitated at times. Being positive and Hopefull is the best thing we can be for Jay right now. I hope to see Jay again soon, and maybe he can tell me something! My Grandma Diane is coming into town this week to be with my mom. They will visit Jay this week. I will post again at the end of the week, to let you know how that went.
