Puree?!

Just thought I would write a quick note on how Jason is doing at home. His schedule is still getting worked out with insurance, physical therapy, speech therapy, etc. My mom has been hard at work "Pureeing" his food! He even ate in-n-out burger pureed.  Gross! He ate every bite and enjoyed it, so that's good. Friends have been coming by and visiting with him! Thank you!!! Seriously, it helps out so much for my mom and dad to have a break. Our acts of service really make a difference in other's lives. Thank you. 

He's Home!

Well as Jason would say "finally!" He is home, doing well, had visitors already! Thanks guys! You are awesome! He is headed to CHOMP today to get some speech therapy and evaluated. He slept good, and the only bummer is that he has a canker sore on his tongue! Ouch! He got those all the time growing up and I know how much he hated them, because he couldn't eat as much! So...always something to tackle. Welcome Home Jay!

E.T.A.

Jason's estimated time of arrival for home is....Wed May 6!!!!! That's right folks Jason will be saying goodbye to good and not so good nurses, smells and not so good smells, and will say hello to his king size bed awaiting him in his old room! 10 months later, Jason is finally coming home! Although, he has come a long way his road to recovery does not stop here. He will continue to get therapy throughout the week and keep on a schedule. He is looking forward to friends coming to the house and visiting him. If you have the time please come by and see him. He seriously loves it!! I think it helps him feel more back to "normal" and makes him feel like he is not "different" than before. Can't wait to inform you on how his reaction is when going home for the first time in 10 months. Pics to come. Happy Cinco de Mayo! What better place than Salinas to spend it!

My mom took these pics of Jay! Way to go! He is standing up and with minimal support. Awesome job! He is really improving well in Salinas and is once again on his road to recovery! Thanks for all the visits and I can't wait to see him next weekend! U da man Jay!

"Rainman"

Loved these pics! A true friend, and a loving mother! Jason's true happiness is when he is with his family and good friends. 

He loves everyone, finds good in everything, and remembers everything!!! Weird "Rainman" things. Remember that movie? "Rainman?!" Well, Jason posesses some of those traits. 

Examples include: remembering our mom's license plate number! Who knows their own?! 

Remembering my old car's code to get into the car. P.S. I drove that car in High School! 

Remembering that I live in "clovis" not "fresno"....same thing right?! He is very precise and makes it known to all. 

Our friends can teach us, inspire us, lift us, but mostly love us. Thanks to all who have made Jason feel so loved. 

Goodbye Bakersfield Hello Salinas

Jason was transported Easter Sunday to Natividad in Salinas. His last day of therapy was friday and they all said their goodbyes to Jason.  My mom was there with Jason's friend Whitney, so I was unable to be there, but I know it was emotional. My mom's heart is full of gratitude for all those involved in Jason's recovery. I loved the pic of Jason getting into the van with his regular van driver. Can't you just see the look on his face, like what the heck?! A bunny?! Weirdo!! ha ha, I am sure he thought it was funny and weird all at the same time. 

Jason is now at Natividad in Salinas and can't wait to have his friends from Monterey come visit. He is in therapy till around 3 in the afternoon. They would like his therapy to be focused so they encourage visitors after his therapy is over. 

Jason is eating more, speaking more, and showing us his true potential! Everyone has said how far he has come and he is very lucky. He had his second round of botox on his hands and ankles last week. Seems to be doing well and helping. He was a good sport and endured the needle pricks! 

Jason will be at Natividad from 1-3 weeks. He will then be at home! It already feels like he is at home, considering my parents are loving the 20 minute commute versus 4 hours!!! My parents have endured a lot these past couple months and I want to thank all of you who have helped them with dinners, hotel points, money donations, Jason's benefit walk, and numerous cards of encouragement. My parents still have over 50 messages saved on their home phone from all of you who left messages regarding Jason. Your thoughts, prayers, and concern for our family has helped everyone through Jason's recovery. So, we will see what these next couple weeks bring us and now the recovery starts at home! Thanks, and if you want to see Jay, he would love to see you.
