Jay Standing!

Here are some recent pics of Jay in the "board room", with mom standing, and by himself standing. He has monthly meetings with the staff to go over his progress etc. He is like Donald Trump in the board room. Sitting at the head of the table, interested and concerned and obviously content! He has been doing 20 minutes or so standing up in the tilt. Go Jay!! Don't forget the walk is next week!!

Jay and communicating

Here is Jason and I talking with Michael on the phone. This is how Jason spells out his sentences on his laminated alphabet. It is pretty funny because I get lost sometimes and have to tell him to start all over again! Words just start running together and I have to tell him to slow down. He is pretty good at it! We were laughing hard, talking about all sorts of things. It is soooo nice he can communicate with his alphabet board! He asked me if I ever had a friend I couldn't understand...I really had to think about that. The only people I haven't been able to understand are my own children. It is frustrating and confusing at times I am sure! I know he is getting worried about his "inabilities" and recognizing them. My mom is there in Bakersfield, this week, for a few days. He can't wait to come home and he loves my mom being there!!!

Here are some pics of Jay with his hand splints and his electrodes on his face. He seems to not mind! ha

HOME

I thought this would be an appropriate title for this post. Not much has changed since my last entry, so I thought I would let you know what is on Jay's mind...HOME! He talks about it a lot and is counting down the days till the month of April. April is when my parents are planning on having him come home. His insurance will cover him at the Center for Neuro Skills until then. We want him to get the most out of his program, and so that is why we keep telling him he has to wait till April to come home. Jason will need a "shadow" when he comes home, to help while my parents are at work, etc. I know Jason would prefer a friend to "hang out" with so if any of you are available and would like a little extra $$, I know my parents are thinking about that next step already. Jason is getting much better with his transfers and even my mom transferred him! So, he is helping a lot! My mom is tired of the commute and is ready to have him home. I know it will be a whole new world for everyone here at home, but it will be the next step for Jason. Like all the other steps he has progressed and hopefully at home he will continue his road to recovery. Thanks for all the support, don't forget to sign up for the walk or donate! Go Mavericks!

Wanta visit?!

My parents are in New Orleans enjoying themselves and taking a much needed break! Jason normally has family visit him on weekends, so if you feel like it or have the time, I know he would love it! It is always a little boring on the weekends, because he has no therapy, so a good visit is always welcomed! Just thought I would put it out there. Jason had a good week, and I have info about a special fundraiser "Walk" in Bakersfield. Info to come! Keep Posted.
